How To Add SPF Record In Hostinger

Published 31 August 2024 by Jarvis Silva

In this tutorial I will show you how to add SPF record in Hostinger. An SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record allows in preventing email spoofing.

Basically It allows the owner of a domain to specify which mail servers can send emails on behalf of that domain. So if you are using Hostinger mail server then you will need to add a SPF dns record if not added.

Check For SPF Record In Hostinger

First you need to check if SPF Record is added to your DNS mostly Hostinger adds it if your domain is purchased at Hostinger. To check follow the below steps:

  1. Login to your Hostinger account.
  2. Go to Emails > Manage your email > Connect Domain.
  3. On this page at the bottom there will be some tabs. Select the Protect your reputation tab. Shown in the below image:
  4. Hostinger SPF record page
  5. It will display the SPF record details and if it added in your dns then the current record will be same as expected record. If you have not added it will display no record found.

Now if your SPF record is already added then well and good if not then follow the below steps to add the SPF record.

Adding SPF Record In DNS

  1. Go to your DNS Manager, If you are using Hostinger nameservers then you can manage your dns at Hostinger. For me it is cloudflare as I am using their nameservers you can check yours here: DnsChecker
  2. In your DNS you will be able to add a new TXT record. In the earlier step we checked for SPF Record on that page it will display the expected DNS record to add for SPF.
  3. Hostinger email SPF record
  4. Create a new record with the following details:
    • Type: TXT
    • Name: @
    • Value: v=SPF1 include:_SPF.mail.hostinger.com ~all
    • TTL: Auto or 3600

So after adding the record it can take some time for dns propogation. You can check if the SPF record is added by going back at Hostinger > Email > Manage Email > Connect Domain page.

If added it will display current records same as expected records. This way one can easily add SPF record in Hostinger email.
