How To Connect Hostinger Domain To Shopify

Have a domain purchased from Hostinger and want to connect it to your Shopify store then you are at the right place. In this tutorial, I will show you how to connect Hostinger domain to Shopify.

So before proceeding you need to have a shopify store and a domain purchased from Hostinger so let's see how to connect them both step by step.

1. Add Domain To Shopify

First we will add the our domain from Hostinger to shopify so to do that follow the below steps:

  • Login in to your Shopify account and go to the settings.
  • In the settings sidebar there will be a domains option click on it and it will open the domains page, click on Connect existing domain.

  • Now it will ask you to enter the domain you want to connect so enter your domain name you want to connect.

Now the domain will be added to shopify, if you click on verify connection but it will fail to verify as we have not added the shopify DNS records to our domain so let's add them and also keep this page open.

2. Configure Domain At Hostinger

Inorder to connect our shopify store to domain at Hostinger we need to point our Hostinger domain to shopify to do that we need to add a CNAME and A record in our DNS at Hostinger so let's see how to add them.

  • Login in to your Hostinger account, go to the domains section and click on manage of the domain you want to connect to shopify store.
  • Click on DNS/Nameservers, it will display all your DNS records. If you have previously connected the domain to another host make sure you remove the A and CNAME records of that host.

  • First let's add the A record to our DNS, to add a record: enter the A record details like below and click on Add Record.
    • Type: A
    • Name: @
    • Points to: 23.227.38.65
    • TTL: leave default

  • Now let's add a CNAME record to our DNS, to add that: enter the CNAME record details like below and click on Add Record.
    • Type: CNAME
    • name: www
    • Target: shops.myshopify.com
    • TTL: leave default

  • After adding both records, Go back to shopify domains page, click on the domain which you added and it will show you option Verify Connection click on it and it will show your domain is connected so to confirm it visit your domain and you should see your shopify store.
  • If you are not viewing your shopify store at your domain note that it can take up 24 hours for DNS propogation.
